Mr. Monk Paints his Masterpiece
This was another good episode, and they just keep coming. This time Monk and the gang went to a junkyard to figure out the booby-trap cause murder of a man going into the junkyard for an unknown reason. In a session with Kroger, Monk realizes he needs a hobby, so he buys a paint set from the junkyard. Later on, the owner is killed supposedly by his own trap, but Monk and the Captain think differently. They investigate further, while Monk is selling all of his paintings to an eager Russian dealer. Monk goes to several classes throughout the episode, and is eventually at an art show, where he realizes the Russian who had to have Monk’s paintings’ motive. Here’s what happened-The Russian dealer was working with the US Mint, and they were printing out Money paper, but where could they hide it? In the easels. He wanted Monk’s paintings because they had thousands of dollars worth on those paintings. He had some trouble with Natalie’s painting that was a gift from Monk, but he then took her hostage wanting to take it from her. Monk brings him outside by burning the other paintings. A lot of the episode’s humor came from Monk’s gradual obsession with painting, and his obsession with him being the best artist ever, even if it meant dressing ridiculously. Two weeks from now the season will complete with an episode two-parter I’m looking forward to, Mr. Monk is On the Run.
