The newest movie by the Wachowski Brothers, Speed Racer, debuted last weekend to mixed critical reception. The movie went up against the big $100 Million dollar making Iron Man, and came short with $20 million over the weekend. The movie cost $150 Million to make, which will give the Wachowski Brothers about $100 million to make up after its monthly run. The way I see it, most of its target audience (10 year Old boys) had the choice to go see this or Iron Man, and obviously they chose the (better) latter. I can’t really blame em. It’s widely known that NOTHING comes on during the Summer and Winter, and that most great shows come on during the Fall and Spring seasons. Now that My Name is Earl and The Office is heading into a break before the Fall, Scrubs is moving to ABC, Monk and Psych won’t return until Mid-July, and Heroes/Chuck won’t be back until SEPTEMBER, my DVD will be very lonely this Summer, and here are the Top Ten Shows I will miss during this torture filled hiatus. (If it wasn’t for good movies this time of year, I’d have to take desperate measures.)

1. Heroes-I love Monk, but I haven’t had any Heroes since December, that’s a long time to wait for Sylar to wreak some havoc.
2. Monk-Knowing that this could be the last season of my favorite TV Show, I’m wanting it to be the best season ever!
3. Chuck-I haven’t had any Chuck since January, and with a plot to kill Chuck in loom, I’m wanting some more humor in my TV diet.
4. Mythbusters-Where are the Mythbusters? (According to Wikipedia, I missed 2 episodes)
5. Psych-I sure do miss the goofy antics of Shawn and Gus
6. My Name is Earl-Sure, it’s not over yet, but something tells me this Season Finale will do something that will make me miss ol’ Earl.
7. The Office-It’s not over yet either, but I’ll miss it too.
8. Scrubs-With it moving to a new channel and new possibilities for JD Moments, I’ll miss it a lot.
9. Heroes-Did I already say Heroes?
10. The King of Queens-WHY CBS? WHY!?!?

The Third Season/Volume of Heroes, Villains, will be premiering this September. The show, as you may know from either the news or my whining, was halted due to the writer’s strike. I’ve been experiencing withdrawal for the past 5 1/2 months. However, a light is now shining at the end of the tunnel in the form of a title for the newest episode, only referred to as “The Butterfly Effect” by TV.com. The new episode is scheduled to premiere on September 15 later this year. Below is what we’ve seen so far of Season 3.

One of my favorite new shows of last year was Chuck, a show about a guy named Chuck who accidentally gets all of the army’s secrets downloaded into his brain. The show was really great, and genuinely funny, and now it is scheduled for release on DVD on September 16th. The 4 disc set will include all 13 hour long episodes (when I first read on Wikipedia that there were 13 episodes, I forgot it was an hour long show):

Ever wonder what would happen if Halo and other classic games combined? Wonder no longer.

As you may know, I was looking forward to several promising movies this summer, including Stepbrothers and Wanted, both of which now have been slapped with an R rating, meaning I can’t get in. Thanks a lot MPAA, thanks a lot. Why, c’mon guys, take out a few swear words, cut out some violence, get it low enough so that it can have a PG-13 and so that I can enjoy the great awesome overload that would come with Morgan Freeman wielding a pistol. I guess I’ll just have to wait until DVD, but until then, I guess I’ll go see the Happening.

Today is the day that we celebrate the greatness of mothers, you know those people who help you when you’re down or yell at you for no telling what reason. To celebrate this day of remembering the greatness of mothers, here’s a clip from Heroes where Claire meets her own mother.

A lot of people (like Nolanator) seem to focus on just the movies in the summer, however they aren’t the only explosion of greatness this time of year. I hope if we are ever attacked by a giant mysterious monster and I’m filming it, that I have a steadier hand than the cameraman in this movie. I felt like throwing up at times. The movie follows a group of friends-the guy going to Tokyo on business, and has a girlfriend who he isn’t as close with as he used to be. There’s also a girl and her boyfriend who is the business guy’s brother, who gets this guy who likes this other girl at the party. Just wanted you to know, because they’re the only main characters in the story. Pretty soon during they’re party this massive explosion goes off, and sends everyone into a panic. I will warn you, if you don’t like shaky cameras or get sick easily, DON’T WATCH THIS MOVIE. If you want something different, take a rent. The movie spans about a 90 min timeframe, which is good, it didn’t need to be too long. I started to buy this at one point, and I’m glad I didn’t. The movie is just one of those watch it once, you’ll love it or dislike it, or hate it. The movie is definitely an interesting one, it’s unique in it’s filming style, but the rocky camera and lack of re-watch keep it at a rent status.
