Game Preview-Super Smash Bros. Brawl

You may not have heard of it, but there’s this little game coming out soon called Super Smash Bros. Brawl. If you haven’t, climb out from your cave, and get ready to be blown away. Where to begin?  Well, let’s start with a little background. The original Super Smash Bros. was released in April 1999 for the N64, anyone remember it besides me? Anyway, the game was a huge success and was followed up with Melee in the 2001 Gamecube launch. The game is known for it’s variety of Nintendo characters and chaotically fun multiplayer, but was criticized slightly for its shallow single-player. The developers are out to fix that this time with a new adventure mode, with a story! Entitled The Subspace Emissary, the platforming adventure will have you and your character of choice going through several stages fighting the villains across stages and boss fights with classic Nintendo villains. But that’s not all! I could probably spend days sitting here typing all of the new and returning stuff, but here’s a basic rundown. There will be old and new pokemon at your disposal, along with trophies, there will be new characters including ROB, Metaknight, Toon Link, Wario, Pit, Diddy Kong, returning characters, and so much more. There will be old and new stages like the Warioware, Pictochat, Pokemon Stadium 2, and more! There are 4 ways to play, including Wiimote, Wiimote w/Nunchuk, GC Controller, and VC Controller. There is, of course the classic multiplayer, along with the team brawl, special brawl, and the new online brawl, with tons of new features with it. The game features a new item called the Final Smash, which, when a player grabs it, initiates a super devastating and cool attack that blasts away the opponents. The game also has the regular slew of classic items as well, ensuring permanent chaos. This game looks to be the biggest of the year for the Wii. I am definitely looking forward to it, and I’m sure any other great Wii fan is too as they anticipate the March 9th release date.

Best game ever. I am slightly addicted to melee as it is. But, I don’t think you can choose your character in subspace emissary. I think that you play as a different character in each stage with a partner. Oh well, promises to be great thought!
