The Future of Monk

July 24, 2008 at 8:19 pm (Television)

For the past 3 years, the show Monk about my favorite obsessive compulsive detective has continued to be my favorite television show, and has kept me glued to my seat on Friday nights. It’s definitely one USA Network’s biggest runner and advertiser. The show’s been running since all the way back this time in 2001, and is now in its 7th Season. The show has seen different assistants for Monk, and now even two different psychiatrists, both of which play monumental roles in the show, both of each performing well. A lot of people are skeptical of the newer seasons *cough* James *cough*. However, I believe the newer seasons have just as good mysteries and just as much comedy, if not more and better comedy, than the past episodes. I was watching some of Season 6 just today, Mr. Monk Paints his Masterpiece, which held a fairly good mystery while still making me laugh so much. Some may say the newest episode, Mr. Monk Buys A House was a little iffy, but so were a lot of past season premieres. A lot of the great episodes take place late in the season. You just have to wait until the writers get warmed up. As far as future seasons go, I might actually be fine with them wrapping up the series with this season, as long as they can wrap up the Trudy case perfectly. However if they could do it well I wouldn’t mind seeing maybe 1 or 2 more seasons. However, I would be satisfied if this was the last season. Monk’s had a great run, and hopefully he will continue to run (evenly off the cracks in the pavement) into the future.
